Whether driving, walking or riding a motorcycle in Taiwan, you can see some girls sell betel nuts at the roadside. Taiwanese call these girls "betel nuts beauties". Generally, "betel nuts beauties" wear sexy clothes. They stand by the roadside to attract guests. This scene has gradually become a unique culture of Taiwan. This cultural practice doesn't exist in the Western countries. Therefore, "betel nuts beauty" is worth an introduction.

When I was a kid, I always looked forward to Taiwanese-style catering. Taiwanese-style catering is a kind of feast. The feast is usually hold at the roadside. I could eat a lot of food when I went to Taiwanese-style catering. The dishes include: lobster, shark's fin soup, abalone slices and so on. After the meal, my grandmother always packed extra food and took it back home. We could eat the take-back-to-home food next day. One time, we took back much Taiwanese-style catering food and we ate it for a week.

When my mom's friend gave birth to a child, my mom and I went to the hospital to visit her. We planned to buy some pears as gifts, but my grandmother stopped us. She told us that postpartum women could not eat this kind of fruit. Thus, I knew that postpartum rest has some taboos.

When I was a child, my mother always warned me not to pick up the a envelope on the road. One day, my brother forgot my mother's warning. He picked up a red envelope in the street. My mother scolded him, because he needs to marry a ghost. That night, my mother punished him, and he could not have the dinner.

When I was a little child, my mother and I went back to my grandmother's home on the second day of Chinese New Year holidays. This is a Chinese custom: A married daughter must return to her mother's home. I like to visit my grandmother because I can see my relatives. We gather together to eat and chat. For me, this is the most happy time.

When I was a sixth-grade student, my grandmother passed away. Everyone was very sad. We believed in Buddhism, so we must abide by Buddhism practices during the funeral. For me, "Burning ghost money" is an impressive custom. At a large place, my relatives and I formed a circle. We held our hands. A pile of ghost money and paper houses were put at the center of the circle. The money and houses are given to the dead person. We burned them and asked the dead person to take them. A Taoist master held a huge sword and he waved it in the sky. This behavior was to prevent the vicious ghost to rob the money. I remembered that all children felt very hot and extremely impatient.

My grandmother died. We discussed how to bury her. Cremation is less expensive than burial, so my family decided to use cremation. After cremation, we put the ashes into an urn. The urn is saved in a religious tower.
